“Authorization failed.” “Invalid credentials.” “Server not reachable.” Few things are more annoying than an app that refuses your login — especially when you are sure the details are right. When an IPTV login failed, the cause is nearly always a small detail in the details themselves, the account status or the device. This guide works through each in order.
Quick answer: Re-enter the details by copy and paste, checking for spaces and case. For Xtream Codes, include http:// and the port in the server URL. Then confirm the account is active, stop streams on other devices, set the device clock to automatic and test on another network.
Step 1: Re-enter the details carefully
Typing errors cause most failed logins, especially on TV remotes.
- Copy and paste wherever possible, from the message your provider sent.
- Watch for spaces before or after the username and password — they are easy to copy by accident.
- Case matters: usernames and passwords are usually case-sensitive.
- Similar characters: check
0(zero) vsO,1vslvsI.
Step 2: Check the server URL (Xtream Codes)
For Xtream Codes logins, the server URL must be exactly right:
- Include the protocol:
http://orhttps://as given. - Include the port if one was given (for example
:8080). Leaving it out is a very common mistake. - Do not add extra paths like
/get.phpunless your provider says so. - Do not paste an M3U link into the server field.
If you are not sure which details go where, our comparison of M3U vs Xtream Codes explains the two formats.
Step 3: Check the M3U link is complete
Long M3U links get cut off when copied, particularly in messaging apps. Make sure the full link is there, including everything after the ?. Try opening it in VLC on a computer as a test — see our VLC guide. If VLC loads it, the link is fine and the problem lies in the app.
Step 4: Is the account active?
- Expired subscription: many apps show the expiry date on the account page. An expired account usually returns an authorization error.
- New details: if you renewed or changed plans, you may have received new login details. Use the latest ones.
- Password change: update every device that uses the old password.
Step 5: Connection limit reached
Most IPTV accounts allow a set number of devices to stream at the same time. If that number are already in use — perhaps a TV left playing in another room — new logins or streams can be refused, sometimes with a “max connections” message.
- Stop playback on other devices.
- Close apps fully on devices you are not using.
- Wait a minute for the server to release the connection, then try again.
Our guide to IPTV on multiple devices explains how connection limits work.
Step 6: Check the device date and time
Secure connections depend on the device clock. A wrong date — for example after a power cut on a device without a battery-backed clock — can make logins fail. Set date and time to automatic with the correct time zone.
Step 7: Network blocks and filters
Some networks block certain ports or streaming servers:
- Public, hotel, school or office Wi-Fi often filters traffic.
- Router security features, parental controls or DNS filtering at home can interfere.
- VPNs sometimes route traffic through servers that are blocked.
Test on mobile data or another network. If the login works there, the problem is the original network. Our VPN for streaming guide covers VPN-related issues.
Step 8: Try another app or device
If the login works in a different player or on a different device, the account is fine — the original app may have a bug, an outdated version or a cached old login. Update it, clear its cache, or remove and re-add the playlist. See IPTV app keeps crashing for cache steps.
Common error messages
| Message | Usual meaning | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Invalid username or password | Typo or old details | Re-enter; use latest details |
| Authorization failed / 401 / 403 | Credentials refused or account inactive | Check details and expiry |
| Max connections reached | Too many devices streaming | Stop other streams; wait |
| Server not reachable / timeout | Wrong URL or port, or network block | Check URL and port; try another network |
| Account expired | Subscription ended | Renew, then re-enter the new details if given |
Protect your login
Failed logins can also happen when someone else is using your details. Never post your login or M3U link online, and change your password if you suspect it has been shared. Our streaming account security guide explains how.
StreamIPTV customers can message us on WhatsApp with the exact error message and device — we can check your account status and send fresh details if needed. If channels load but will not play, see the IPTV not working checklist.
Frequently asked questions
My login works on my phone but not on my TV. Why?
The account is fine, so the problem is the TV app or how the details were entered there. Check for typos and missing ports, update the app, or try the other login format on the TV.
How long should I wait after stopping another stream?
Usually a minute or two is enough for the server to release the connection. If the error continues, close the app fully on the other device rather than just pausing it.
