When IPTV suddenly stops working, it is tempting to reinstall everything at once. A calmer, step-by-step approach is faster: most problems have simple causes, and checking them in the right order finds the culprit in minutes. Use this checklist whenever IPTV is not working — whether you see a black screen, an error message or an app that will not load.

Quick answer: Check that the internet works on the device, restart the app, device and router, confirm the date and time, and make sure your account is active and not at its connection limit. Then update or clear the app’s cache and test the login on another device.

First: describe the problem precisely

Note exactly what happens. It saves time later, and support teams will ask:

  • What do you see? Black screen, spinning wheel, error message (write it down), app closing.
  • Where? One channel, all channels, live TV only, movies only.
  • Which device and app? And does it happen on another device?
  • Since when? After an update, a power cut, a new router?

The 10-step checklist

1. Is the internet working?

Open another streaming app or a website on the same device. If nothing works, the problem is your connection — restart the modem and router and check your ISP’s status page or app for outages.

2. Restart the device and app

Close the player completely (on Fire TV and Android TV, use Force stop in the app settings), then restart the streaming device. Many glitches disappear here.

3. Restart the router

Unplug the modem and router for 30 seconds, plug the modem in first, wait for it to connect, then the router. This clears stuck connections and DNS caches.

4. Check the date, time and time zone

A wrong device clock can break secure connections and the program guide. Set the date and time to automatic and choose the correct time zone.

5. Check your account

  • Has your subscription expired? Some apps show the expiry date on the account screen.
  • Did you recently change your password or receive new login details?
  • Are you over your connection limit because another device is streaming? See IPTV multiple devices.

If the app says “authorization failed” or similar, jump to our guide to an IPTV login that failed.

6. Test several channels

If only some channels fail, the account and connection are fine — the problem is specific streams. Our guide to IPTV channels not loading covers this case.

7. Update or clear the app

  • Update the player app and the device software.
  • Clear the cache (Fire TV and Android: Settings → Applications/Apps → your player → Clear cache).
  • If needed, clear data or reinstall — note this removes saved logins and favorites, so have your details ready.

8. Try the other login format

If you use Xtream Codes, try the M3U link, or the reverse. If one works and the other does not, the issue is in the app’s configuration, not the account. Background in our login formats explainer.

9. Try another device or app

Test the same login on a phone or computer — VLC can open an M3U link in seconds (how to use VLC). If it works there, the problem is the original device or app.

10. Check for network blocks

Some networks block or filter streaming traffic: public Wi-Fi, office networks, some parental-control services and certain DNS filters. If IPTV works on mobile data but not on your home Wi-Fi, check router security features, DNS settings and any filtering service you use.

Common symptoms and quick fixes

Symptom Most likely fix
Black screen with sound Switch the decoder (hardware ↔ software); update the app
Sound but frozen picture Restart the app; check decoder settings
Endless loading on all channels Account or connection — steps 1, 3 and 5
App will not open Clear cache, update, reinstall
Error after a power cut Restart the router; check device date and time
Works on phone, not TV TV device Wi-Fi or app issue

When the picture plays but stutters

That is a buffering problem rather than a “not working” one — follow our dedicated IPTV buffering guide.

When to contact support

If you have worked through the checklist and IPTV still is not working, contact your provider with:

  1. The device and app name.
  2. What you see (exact error text helps).
  3. Whether it fails on all channels or only some.
  4. What you have already tried.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if the problem is my provider or my home?

Test the same login on another device and another network, such as mobile data. If it fails everywhere, the problem is likely the account or the service; if it only fails at home or on one device, the problem is local.

Should I reinstall the app straight away?

Try the quicker steps first. Restarting, clearing the cache and checking the account fix most problems without losing your settings. Reinstalling is the last step, after you have your login details ready.
